AWC: a new model for conservation Australian Wildlife Conservancy (AWC) was established more than 10 years ago because Australia has the worst mammal extinction rate in the world and a very high proportion of our surviving animals and plants (over 1,700 species) are listed as threatened with extinction. “Business as usual” for conservation in Australia will mean additional extinctions. AWC is therefore developing and implementing a new model for conservation to reverse the decline in our wildlife. Our strategy is simple: Establish sanctuaries by acquiring land and through partnerships with landholders; and Implement practical land management – feral animal control and fire management – informed by good science.
BADGAR is owned and operated by Greendale Wildlife Shelter, with Donna Zabinskas and Walter Collins at the forefront of this organisation. Our mission statement is:
“As Australian wildlife carers, we take pride in the rescue, care and rehabilitation of our native wildlife. Acting with dignity, respect, and professionalism, we are committed to working together to educate, train and create awareness within our community and local districts”
The Marsupial Society of Australia Inc. is a small organisation, based in Adelaide, South Australia, dedicated to providing information and education regarding keeping and breeding our native Fauna in captivity. Although the Society does not rescue individual animals, it provides support and guidance to those who do.
The Society was formed in 1981, and we have been publishing a monthly Journal / Newsletter ever since. This means that we have a vast information resource that can now be more readily accessible to the world via the internet.
The VHS was formed over 30 years ago to bring together like minded reptile enthusiasts.
The VHS is a non-profit organisation dedicated to learning and sharing all we can about reptiles.
